Lake Cochituate consists of three linked ponds known as North Pond, Middle Pond, and South Pond. Lake Cochituate’s North Pond is the site of Wayland Town Beach. Lake Cochituate is a 625 acre body of water, made of three ponds and their connector ponds reaching Natick, Wayland, and Framingham, Massachusetts. Lake Cochituate was created by the construction of Lake Cochituate Dam to provide a reservoir for water supply to the City of Boston; it no longer serves that function, and is now a local recreational resource. The Wayland Town Beach is one of Wayland’s cherished jewels that Wayland residents enjoy year round.
