Registration Opens February 1st!

Registration for all Spring and Summer Recreation Programs including Beach Buddies, Summer Adventure, CIT and Wayland Escapes will begin on Wednesday, February 1st at 9:00am. Online registration is preferred.

The 2017 Spring & Summer Brochure will be mailed to each home in Wayland the last week of January. A PDF version will  be uploaded to our website here ASAP.

Winter Ski & Snowboard Program (Wayland Residents only)

Reminder – There is no ski program on Monday, January 16th!

WHO:      3rd – 8th graders from Middle School, Happy Hollow, Claypit Hill and Loker Schools
WHEN:   Mondays – 5 sessions 
DATES:   Jan. 9, 23, 30  Feb. 6, 13  (no program on 1/16)

High School Athletic Facility Master Plan Update

The Recreation Commission along with the School Committee are consulting with “Weston & Sampson” to update the town’s High School Athletic Facility Master Plan. An original plan was completed in 2010 by GALE Associates, and this new plan will incorporate revised and additional evaluations from the original plan. 

2nd Public Input Meeting:

The second Public Input Meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 18th at 7:00 pm at the Wayland Town Building. All those interested are invited to attend to provide your thoughts, concerns, and input.

Spring Field Usage Updates

All playing fields in Wayland are currently closed. 

Spring season requests for Facility Use (fields & gyms) will be accepted beginning February 1st, 2017.  The Spring Season includes dates late March-late June only. Summer field requests are accepted beginning April 1st and require a separate application to be submitted.

Recreation Project Updates

Below are updates on a few of the Capital Projects that the Recreation Department/Commission are currently working on:

Dudley Woods Trails – There was a Public Input Meeting held on Tuesday, September 6th at 7:00pm in the Town Building to present preliminary design plans for the trails. Please download the Info sheet & Agenda for more details of what was discussed. Another meeting will be held in the coming months to present more final design plans. 

Oxbow Meadows – There was a Public Input Meeting held on Monday, October 24th at 7:00pm in the Town Building to present preliminary design plans for a potential field development at this site. The plan showed a new 11v11 size rectangular field with parking. More meetings will be held to relay additional information and address questions/concerns expressed at the last meeting.

Town Beach

Thank you everyone for a great 2016 Season! Remember to save your membership cards for 2017!


The Wayland Town Beach is now  closed for the 2017 season. There is no longer any staff on site, therefore no access to bathroom and changing facilities, snack bar, and other site amenities including chairs and boats. 

The beach is still accessible to residents, but all activities that take place on public property in the off-season are AT YOUR OWN RISK.
